Portraits of Hope

Portraiture, for me, is a uniquely powerful form of human connection. It allows me to explore my curiosity about people — who they are, what they do, and the common ground we all stand on.

When broken down to its simplest form, the camera is merely a means to an end: a tool for conversation, for building relationships, and for creating opportunities for understanding and change.

Portraits of Hope is the result of a relationship I’ve built with the nonprofit organization Port of Hopes in my hometown of Port Huron. Through connecting with and photographing the individuals within this community, I’ve come to realize how deeply interconnected we all are. Every person carries a unique story, purpose, and value — in ways both large and small — and it is our responsibility to recognize and honor that humanity in one another.
